Ann Arbor Derby Dimes Accepted as Women’s Flat Track Derby Association Apprentice

[ANN ARBOR, MI] — The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) is proud to announce today that the Ann Arbor Derby Dimes has been accepted as an “Apprentice” affiliate of the WFTDA, the governing body for women's amateur flat track roller derby.

"We are blown away by this thrilling news! We are overwhelmed and humbled to be joining such an amazing group of leagues from across the world! There will be a lot of people inspired to train harder and play this amazing sport in Ann Arbor in the years to come."

-General Strike, Interleague Liaison & A2D2 Brawlstars Assistant Captain

As an Apprentice affiliate of the WFTDA, the Ann Arbor Derby Dimes joins the ranks of more than 100 all-female, skater-owned-and-operated leagues nationwide that have united to lead the growing sport of women's flat track roller derby.

WFTDA apprentice leagues are matched with veteran member leagues who guide them in the processes and requirements necessary to become a full member of the Association. Additionally, the mentor offers advice and information related to the management and development of the apprentice league. WFTDA Apprentice leagues are considered “pre-members” of the WFTDA and have access to many of the resources and benefits of full WFTDA membership.

Ann Arbor's A team, the Brawlstars, are excited to host a full-fledged WFTDA league on August 4! The Brawlstars will compete against G-Rap Attack of Grand Raggidy Roller Girls at Buhr Park, 2751 Packard Road in Ann Arbor, in a double header that also features a home team bout. Doors at 5pm and admission is a suggested donation of $12.
